  • Research on Access to Social Care for Adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders

    The Department of Social Work and Social Care at the University of Sussex is carrying out research on access to social care for adults with autism spectrum disorders in England.

    This research has been commissioned by the Social Care Institute for Excellence and sponsored by the Department of Health. It will inform and support the Department of Health strategy for Adults with autism spectrum disorders.

  • Adult Autism Strategy Consultation

    The consultation on the future strategy for adults with autistic spectrum conditions (ASC) closed on 15 September 2009.

    Over 1,100 responses were received, including people with ASC, families and carers, voluntary sector organisations and health and social care bodies.

    This report highlights the findings from the consultation including the importance of training, awareness raising and better diagnosis pathways.

  • NICE Evidence Consultation: Preventing unintentional injuries among under 15s in the home

    The aim of this consultation is to enable stakeholders to consider the evidence gathered and to provide the opportunity to comment, in particular on:

    * major gaps in the evidence gathered, including papers in the published literature that we have not been able to identify
    * queries around the interpretation of the evidence, both of single studies and the reviewed material as a whole
    * the applicability of the evidence and its usefulness for the development of guidance
    * issues relating to equality
    * issues relating to cost-effectiveness

    The consultation on this evidence will run from 19 August to 17 September 2009

  • Reference Guide to Consent for Examination or Treatment – 2nd Edition

    It describes the process of seeking consent, the importance of establishing whether the person has capacity to give consent, what constitutes valid consent, the form that consent might take and the duration of that consent.

  • Serious Incident Reporting and Learning Framework (SIRL) – Consultation

    national-patient-safety-agencyThe National Patient Safety Agency (NPSA) is seeking comments from interested organisations and individuals concerning the National Framework for Reporting and Learning from Serious Incidents Requiring Investigation.

    This document is the first release of a proposed new National  Framework for the management of serious incidents (previously known as Serious Untoward Incidents/ SUIs) occurring in the NHS and those parts of the Independent Sector which provide NHS services in England .

    The consultation opened on 14 August 2009 and runs until 13 November 2009.

  • Consultation on the CQC Mental Health Strategy

    cqc-logoCQC are currently developing a strategic plan for their work on mental health over the next three to five years. They are keen to get a range of views to help them develop this plan.
    They are looking for peoples views as part the consultation on:

    • Where does the Care Quality Commission need to focus its efforts in the next three to five years to really make a difference in mental health?
    • How should we involve people who use services and their families and carers in developing, implementing and monitoring the strategy?
