Published every month and looking back across our whole back-catalogue of guidance, they provide a useful prompt and briefing for the NHS to review current practice.

Making Psychiatry and Mental Health Services Fit for the 21st Century

    Position Statement

The Royal College of Psychiatrists has produced a position statement on social inclusion which concludes that the ‘move to socially inclusive practice needs to be built into medical training at all levels, from the undergraduate curriculum to the establishment of competencies for the postgraduate curriculum for psychiatry. Continuing professional development for psychiatrists will be an important tool to promote the cultural change in attitudes and practice required to implement the social inclusion agenda across the profession’.

  • Valuing Employment Now – real jobs for people with learning disabilities

    Recent News/Publications 04.07.2009 No Comments

valuing-employment-now2Via DH Website : The Government launched Valuing Employment Now – real jobs for people with learning disabilities. This sets out an ambitious goal to increase radically the number of people with learning disabilities in employment by 2025. The Government wants as many as possible of these jobs to be at least 16 hours per week. We aspire to close the gap between the employment rate of people with learning disabilities and that of the disabled population as whole. The current employment rate for disabled people as a whole is 48%. Closing this gap in today’s terms would mean around 45,000 more people with learning disabilities in work than we believe is currently the case.
